Hockey India League Returns with Exciting Auctions
Introduction
The Hockey India League (HIL) is making a grand comeback after a 7-year break, with the 2024-25 season featuring both men’s and women’s leagues. The players’ auction is set to take place from October 13th to 15th at the Hyatt Regency in New Delhi.
Players’ Auction Details
Over 1,000 players have registered for the auction, including more than 400 domestic men’s players, 150 overseas men’s players, 250 domestic women’s players, and 70 overseas women’s players. Players are categorized into three base price categories: INR 2,00,000, INR 5,00,000, and INR 10,00,000.
Star Players
The men’s auction will feature stars from India’s bronze medal-winning team at the Paris Olympics, including Captain Harmanpreet Singh and Vice Captain Hardik Singh. International stars like Arthur van Doren and Gonzalo Peillat will also participate. The women’s auction will include top Indian players like Captain Salima Tete and international stars such as Delfina Merino.
Team Composition
Each team will have 24 players, including 16 Indian players (with 4 juniors) and 8 overseas players, promoting both local and global talent.
Schedule and Venues
The HIL 2024-25 season will start on December 28, 2024, with matches held at Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi and Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela. The women’s final is on January 26, 2025, in Ranchi, and the men’s final is on February 1, 2025, in Rourkela. Shootouts will decide tied matches, ensuring thrilling action for fans.
