On Tuesday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed his gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir after the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance surpassed the halfway mark in the assembly elections. Kharge stated that the coalition government will strive to meet the citizens’ aspirations. He shared his thoughts on X, emphasizing the coalition’s commitment to protecting well-being and constitutional rights.

Election Results

The Election Commission of India (ECI) trends indicate that the Congress-NC alliance is set to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir, having won 49 out of 90 seats. This includes 42 seats for the National Conference, 6 for the Indian National Congress, and 1 for the Communist Party of India (Marxist) – CPI (M).

Congratulations to Leaders

Kharge congratulated National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah on their victory. He noted that the mandate reflects opposition to the BJP’s policies, which he described as ‘anti-people’ and oppressive.

Unexpected Results in Haryana

Kharge also commented on the unexpected results in Haryana, where the BJP won 48 seats, securing a majority. He mentioned that the Congress party is assessing the situation and will provide a detailed response after consulting with ground workers.
