ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings Update

India’s spinner Deepti Sharma has moved down two places to the fourth position in the latest ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal made history by becoming the first from her country to briefly top the rankings, surpassing long-time leader Sophie Ecclestone. Sadia achieved this after an impressive performance against Sri Lanka, taking three wickets for 17 runs. However, her time at the top was short-lived as Ecclestone reclaimed her position after a strong showing against South Africa.

Key Performances

Sophie Ecclestone, who had been leading since February 2020, slipped to second place after a wicketless match against Bangladesh. She regained the top spot by taking two wickets for 15 runs against South Africa, earning the Player of the Match award.

Sadia Iqbal’s brief reign marked her as only the second Pakistani player to lead the women’s rankings, following former captain Sana Mir’s achievement in the ODI rankings during 2018-2019.

Other Notable Movements

In other ranking updates, South African openers Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits reached career-best-equalling positions.
