External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently addressed the seventh India-Argentina Joint Commission Meeting in New Delhi. He expressed his happiness with Argentina’s involvement in the Voice of the Global South Summit and highlighted the thriving trade between the two nations.

Welcoming Argentina’s Delegation

Jaishankar warmly welcomed the Argentinian delegation, recalling their last meeting in Munich earlier this year. He appreciated the opportunity to engage with the business delegation and expressed gratitude for their participation.

Economic Partnership and Future Plans

Jaishankar noted the strong economic ties between India and Argentina, despite a minor dip in trade. He promised to visit Argentina soon with a business delegation to further strengthen these ties.

A day before the meeting, Jaishankar and Argentinian Foreign and Trade Minister Diana Mondino, along with industry leaders, discussed expanding bilateral trade and investment. They focused on sectors like energy transition, minerals, health, agri-tech, defense, and technology.

India and Argentina share mutual respect, understanding, and a commitment to the rule of law. Their diplomatic relations, elevated to a strategic partnership in 2019, have grown stronger over the years, marking 75 years of diplomatic ties in 2024.
