Azar drew parallels with Israel’s past, citing the 1973 surprise attack, and noted that the October 7 attack was different, stating, “50 years later, the 7th of October 2023 was much worse.” He acknowledged the breach of trust between citizens and the state, but highlighted Israel’s resilience and the return of thousands of Israelis to defend their nation.

The Ambassador praised Israel’s youth and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to its homeland and determination to achieve peace. The attack by Hamas last year resulted in over 1200 Israeli deaths and more than 250 hostages, with around 100 still in captivity.
