In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a crucial meeting on Monday. The meeting, chaired by BJP President JP Nadda, took place at his residence in New Delhi. This was the second meeting following a previous one in Ranchi, where the party discussed candidate selection and strategies for the elections.

Important Attendees

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and several key leaders from Jharkhand, including Union Ministers Sanjay Seth and Annapurna Devi, were present. The state president Babulal Marandi and former Union Minister Arjun Munda also attended.

Candidate Selection Process

The state unit has shortlisted three potential candidates for each constituency. During the meeting, one candidate from each list is expected to be finalized. However, the final decision will be made after the Central Election Committee meeting.

BJP’s Election Promises

The BJP has announced their ‘Paanch Prana’ promises for the youth and women of Jharkhand. These include the Yuva Sathi, Gogo Didi Yojana, Ghar Saakar, Laxmi Johar, and ‘Assured Employment’. The Gogo Didi Yojana will provide women with Rs 2,100 per month, while the Ghar Saakar scheme aims to ensure housing for all. The Yuva Sathi scheme offers Rs 2,000 to young people preparing for competitive exams.

Upcoming Elections

Jharkhand is expected to hold elections for its 81-member legislative assembly by December 2024, as the current government’s term ends in January 2025. The Election Commission has not yet announced the election schedule.
