Doubling of Nutrition Support

The Union Health Ministry, under the leadership of JP Nadda, has announced an increase in monthly nutrition support for Tuberculosis patients. The support has been doubled from Rs 500 to Rs 1000 as part of the Ni-Kshay Poshan Yojana.

Additional Funding and Initiatives

An additional allocation of Rs 1040 crores has been approved to further assist TB patients. The initiative is part of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which aims to cover family members and household contacts of TB patients.

Commitment to a TB-Free India

JP Nadda reiterated the government’s commitment to a TB-free India, emphasizing the importance of nutrition in treatment. Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State, highlighted India’s role in global TB eradication efforts during a UN event, noting significant progress in reducing TB incidence and deaths.

India is advancing towards the Sustainable Development Goals, with a notable decline in TB cases and deaths from 2015 to 2022, showcasing the country’s effective TB program.
