Aashima Ahlawat Shines at ISSF Junior World Championship in Peru

In Lima, Peru, Aashima Ahlawat, a talented women’s trap shooter from India, showcased her skills at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship. On the second last day of the event, Aashima finished fourth, narrowly missing out on a medal due to a higher bib number. She was the standout performer among the Indian participants, competing in both the men’s and women’s trap finals.

Women’s Trap Finals

Aashima successfully hit 25 targets in the first seven series of the 10-series final, matching Italy’s Sofia Gori. However, Sofia had qualified second with a score of 115, while Aashima’s score of 113 placed her fifth in the qualifiers. Other Indian competitors included Bhavya Tripathi, who finished ninth with a score of 110, Sabeera Harris in 16th with 105, Rajkuwar Ingle in 33rd with 97, and Nilaa Rajaa Baalu in 38th with 93. Bhavya, Sabeera, and Rajkuwar also secured sixth place in the team competition.

Junior Men’s Trap Competition

In the junior men’s trap event, Shardul Vihal and Zahir Khan both scored 109, finishing 34th and 35th respectively. Syed Ahyan Ali was 40th with a score of 108, while Laksya Atree finished 55th with 102. Bakhtyaruddin Malek, another Indian participant, also scored 109 and was placed 32nd after a countback. He, along with Shardul and Zahir, helped India achieve an eighth-place finish in the team competition.
