On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu held important talks at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. The discussions included both bilateral and delegation-level meetings. Key Indian officials, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, were present.

President Muizzu, who arrived in India on a five-day visit, was given a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi. The Maldivian President and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, where Muizzu signed the visitors’ book.

During the meetings, both countries discussed strengthening their special ties. Jaishankar expressed his pleasure in welcoming President Muizzu, who thanked the Indian government for their warm reception. The discussions focused on current initiatives supported by India and exploring new opportunities for mutual benefit, aligning with the Maldives’ development priorities.

President Muizzu and the First Lady also met with the Maldivian community in New Delhi, further strengthening the bond between the two nations.
