Gaurav Gogoi Criticizes BJP as Congress Eyes Victory in Haryana Elections
In New Delhi, Congress leader and MP Gaurav Gogoi expressed optimism about Congress’s potential comeback in Haryana, following exit polls predicting a win after a decade. Gogoi criticized the BJP’s “double-engine government,” claiming it worked against people and favored big industrialists. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is no longer influential in Vidhan Sabha elections, attributing increased unemployment and inflation to his economic policies.
Gogoi confidently predicted Congress’s success not only in Haryana but also in upcoming elections. Exit polls suggest Congress could win over 50 of the 90 assembly seats. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait also criticized the BJP, citing their actions against farmers as a reason for their potential defeat. Tikait believes Congress will form the government.
Projections from TV-Today C voter and Republic TV-Matrize polls indicate Congress may secure 50-62 seats, while BJP could win 18-28 seats. The majority needed in the 90-member assembly is 46. Despite this, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini remains confident in BJP’s ability to form a government independently. The single-phase polling in Haryana concluded with a 65.65% voter turnout.
