Speaking at the Felicitation ceremony of Dr. Karan Singh, who has completed 75 years in public life, Dhankhar highlighted India’s current economic growth and its potential to become a developed nation by 2047.

Vice-President Dhankhar emphasized that India is experiencing an unprecedented economic upsurge. He expressed confidence that the country is on a path of incremental development, aiming to achieve the status of a developed nation by 2047, if not sooner.

Dhankhar also addressed concerns about forces within and outside the country that are inimical to India’s progress. He stressed the importance of countering anti-national narratives and influencing the national mood to neutralize these threats.

Role of Governance

Highlighting the roles of different branches of government, Dhankhar stated that executive governance should remain the domain of the Executive, with legislation and judicial review being the responsibilities of the Legislature and Judiciary, respectively. He noted that any overlap in these roles is not in line with democratic and constitutional principles.

Addressing Dr. Karan Singh and the audience, Dhankhar called for reflection and action from the intelligentsia and academia. He urged them to inspire and motivate the public, fostering a national discourse that respects constitutional values and contributes to the growth of democracy.
