Delhi CM Atishi and LG VK Saxena Discuss Bus Marshals’ Reinstatement
In New Delhi, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena met with Bus Marshals who are protesting for their reinstatement. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating that necessary actions have been taken and it is now up to the BJP to regularize the Marshals and issue joining letters.
The BJP’s Delhi official handle shared that LG Saxena assured the Bus Marshals that their request would be considered positively. The meeting was facilitated by State President Virendra Sachdeva, emphasizing that the BJP does not politicize humanitarian issues.
CM Atishi explained that the issue of Bus Marshals falls under service matters managed by the LG. She accused the BJP of politicizing the issue, despite the Delhi cabinet’s efforts to regularize the marshals. Atishi highlighted that the BJP should urge the LG to make decisions on matters under his jurisdiction.
Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj mentioned that BJP Delhi Chief Vijender Gupta sought a meeting with the CM, promising to handle the remaining work through the LG. Bharadwaj expressed concerns about CM Atishi’s security when meeting the LG alone.
The Bus Marshals have been protesting since their services were terminated by LG Saxena last October. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj and others were detained during a protest demanding the marshals’ reinstatement. Last month, Atishi wrote to LG Saxena, urging the restoration of the Bus Marshals’ jobs, highlighting the sudden halt of their salaries and duties.
