GAIL and AM Green Partner for 2.5GW Solar and Wind Projects in India

GAIL and AM Green Join Forces for Renewable Energy in India

GAIL (India) Limited has teamed up with AM Green B.V. (AMG) to develop solar and wind hybrid renewable energy projects in India, aiming for a capacity of up to 2.5GW. This collaboration was formalized with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by both companies.

Focus on Sustainable Energy

The MoU outlines plans for the long-term supply of carbon dioxide (CO2) from GAIL’s gas processing plants to produce eMethanol. GAIL also has the option to invest in the eMethanol project, strengthening the partnership’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Round-the-Clock Power Supply

The hybrid solar and wind projects, along with Greenko’s Pump Storage Projects, aim to provide continuous power to end users, including the eMethanol project.

Statements from Leaders

Rajeev Singhal, Director of Business Development at GAIL, emphasized the importance of reducing carbon emissions and supporting alternative fuel development. Mahesh Kolli, Group President of AM Green, highlighted the partnership’s role in advancing India’s green energy goals and decarbonizing industries like shipping and steel.

About the Companies

GAIL is a leading natural gas transmission and distribution company in India, while AMG, a subsidiary of the AM Green Group, focuses on clean energy solutions powered by solar, wind, and hydroelectric sources.

Doubts Revealed

GAIL -: GAIL stands for Gas Authority of India Limited. It is a government-owned company in India that deals with natural gas processing and distribution.

AM Green B.V. -: AM Green B.V. is a company that focuses on renewable energy projects. They work on creating sustainable energy solutions like solar and wind power.

2.5GW -: 2.5GW stands for 2.5 gigawatts. It is a unit of power that measures how much electricity can be produced. 2.5 gigawatts is a large amount of power, enough to supply electricity to many homes and industries.

Solar and Wind Projects -: Solar and wind projects use the sun and wind to create electricity. These are renewable energy sources, meaning they don’t run out and are better for the environment.

Memorandum of Understanding -: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is an agreement between two or more parties. It shows that they plan to work together on a project or goal.

CO2 -: CO2 stands for carbon dioxide. It is a gas that is released when we burn fossil fuels. Too much CO2 in the atmosphere can lead to global warming.

eMethanol -: eMethanol is a type of fuel made from carbon dioxide and hydrogen. It is considered cleaner than traditional fuels because it can help reduce carbon emissions.

Decarbonizing -: Decarbonizing means reducing the amount of carbon dioxide emissions. It is important for fighting climate change and making the environment cleaner.
