In Islamabad, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party of attempting to sabotage the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. Asif claims that the PTI’s protests are a deliberate effort to disrupt the important conference scheduled in Islamabad, alleging that the party is backed by Israel.

Asif emphasized the significance of the SCO summit for regional cooperation and warned of severe consequences if it is disrupted. He urged political leaders, the judiciary, and citizens to prioritize national interests.

Government’s Response to Protests

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that the federal government will take all necessary measures to prevent protests in Islamabad. He highlighted the importance of maintaining security due to the presence of international delegations, including the Malaysian Prime Minister and a Saudi delegation.

Naqvi urged PTI leaders to refrain from protests, citing security concerns and the imposition of Section 144 in Islamabad, which prohibits gatherings. The SCO summit is set for October 15-16, with EAM Jaishankar leading the Indian delegation.
