India and Moldova Strengthen Ties in New Delhi Meeting

The second India-Moldova Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) took place in New Delhi, focusing on enhancing political relations, trade, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts. The Indian delegation was led by Tanmaya Lal, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, while Sergiu Mihov, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led the Moldovan side.

Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, shared on social media that the discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and covered regional and international issues of mutual interest. Both countries discussed cooperation in international and multilateral forums.

India and Moldova agreed to hold the next session of FOCs in Chisinau at a mutually convenient time. India recognized Moldova on December 28, 1991, and established diplomatic relations on March 20, 1992. The relationship between the two countries is friendly and cooperative, especially in multilateral forums.

In April 2023, Moldova decided to open an embassy in India, and the Moldovan Ambassador arrived in June 2023. India accredits its Ambassador in Bucharest to the Republic of Moldova.
