BJP’s Shehzad Poonawala Criticizes Foreign-Funded NGOs and George Soros
In New Delhi, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala expressed strong criticism towards foreign-funded NGOs, accusing them of hindering India’s economic and development projects. He claimed these NGOs act as ‘sleeper cells’ for foreign agencies, receiving 90-95% of their funds from dubious foreign sources. Poonawala also accused American billionaire George Soros of allocating $1 billion to destabilize India and interfere in its democratic processes.
Poonawala further criticized political leaders, particularly from the Congress Party, for treating reports about these NGOs as absolute truth, which he believes causes economic disruption. His comments followed a media report alleging that two NGOs had engaged in legal actions to obstruct development projects, including those by Adani Group and JSW, with over 75% of their funding coming from abroad over five years.
