Pakistan Prepares for SCO Summit with Enhanced Security in Islamabad
Islamabad, Pakistan is gearing up for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, scheduled for October 15-16, 2024. To ensure safety and order, the federal government has decided to deploy Rangers in the city’s Red Zone. This decision was made to maintain law and order during the summit.
The Rangers will be stationed outside important government buildings and along internal roads in the Red Zone until the summit concludes. A security plan was approved during a meeting led by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Meanwhile, India has confirmed receiving an invitation from Pakistan to attend the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, acknowledged the invitation but mentioned no further updates.
The SCO is an international organization established in 2001, with member states including India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. It also has observer states and dialogue partners from various countries.
