BJP Leader Criticizes Remarks on Celebrity Divorce

BJP leader N Ramchander Rao has criticized Telangana Minister Konda Surekha for her comments on the divorce of actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, calling it “character assassination.” Rao emphasized the importance of maintaining respectful language in politics.
Naga Chaitanya’s father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, has filed a defamation case against Surekha under Section 356 Bhartiya Nayay Sanhita in Hyderabad’s district court. Rao supported Nagarjuna’s decision, stating it was his right to file the case due to the objectionable nature of Surekha’s remarks.
Surekha accused BRS leader KT Rama Rao of involvement in the divorce, alleging he tapped phones and blackmailed actors. Actor Mahesh Babu condemned Surekha’s comments, urging respect for women in the film industry. Vijay Deverakonda also expressed disapproval, criticizing the current state of politics.
Following criticism, Surekha clarified her remarks were aimed at KT Rama Rao and offered an “unconditional” retraction if her comments offended Samantha or her fans.
