In Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, a joint operation by the Vidisha Welfare Social Organisation (VWSO) Child Help Line and the Government Railway Police (GRP) successfully rescued 14 minors from being trafficked for child labor. The operation took place on the Ahmedabad Express train at Ganjbasoda railway station.

Discovery and Rescue

During a routine check, GRP personnel discovered 10 children in suspicious circumstances. The VWSO team was alerted and, after counseling the children, it was revealed that they were being trafficked from Bihar to Ahmedabad for child labor.

Statements from VWSO

Deepa Sharma, a member of VWSO, stated, “While checking in the train, the Ganjbasoda RPF team found some children in suspicious condition. After getting information from the RPF team, the VWSO team reached Ganjbasoda and brought the children to Vidisha.”

She further added, “During counselling, it was revealed that the children were being taken from Bihar to Ahmedabad for child labour. 10 children were rescued in Vidisha while the remaining 4 children could not be rescued because the train had left. Then our team rescued 4 children in Bhopal.”

The contractor responsible for the trafficking was arrested, and further investigation is ongoing.
