Uttarakhand Launches ‘Mount Kailash Darshan from Indian Soil’

On October 2, Uttarakhand Tourism began a new pilgrimage called ‘Mount Kailash Darshan from Indian Soil.’ This allows pilgrims to view Mount Kailash from Old Lipulekh Peak in the Pithoragarh district. The first group of pilgrims, including Neeraj Manohar Lal Chowksey and Mohini Neeraj Chowksey from Bhopal, started their journey on Gandhi Jayanti and witnessed the majestic Mount Kailash on October 3.

The pilgrimage package includes helicopter tickets from Pithoragarh to Gunji and back, with accommodation at KMVN or homestays. Pilgrims will also visit Adi Kailash from Gunji Pithoragarh on October 4 before returning to Pithoragarh.

Amandeep Kumar Jindal from Chandigarh expressed gratitude for the clear weather, which allowed a clear view of Mount Kailash. The viewing point was discovered by a team from Uttarakhand Tourism, BRO, and ITBP, leading to the creation of a tour package covering Mount Kailash, Adi Kailash, and Om Parvat from Indian soil.

According to holy scriptures, there are five abodes of Lord Shiva, with Adi Kailash in Uttarakhand and Mount Kailash in Tibet. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised the initiative, highlighting the government’s commitment to providing Shiva devotees with the opportunity to pay their respects from Indian territory.
