US Adds Two Chinese Companies to Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention List

US Expands Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention List

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has added two China-based companies to the Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention Act (UFLPA) Entity List, increasing the total to 75. This move aims to combat forced labor and hold accountable those responsible for human rights abuses against Uyghurs and other minority groups in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

New Additions to the List

The companies added are Baowu Group Xinjiang Bayi Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. and Changzhou Guanghui Food Ingredients Co. Ltd. Their products are now banned from entering the US.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N Mayorkas emphasized the importance of the UFLPA in combating forced labor and urged American businesses to scrutinize their supply chains. DHS Under Secretary for Policy Robert Silvers reiterated the US’s commitment to eliminating forced labor from supply chains and upholding human rights.

Collaborative Efforts

The DHS works with various departments, including the Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force, to ensure compliance with the UFLPA and identify exploitative companies across different sectors.
