Bhupinder Hooda Criticizes BJP Ahead of Haryana Elections

In Karnal, Haryana, former Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the last day of campaigning for the Haryana Assembly polls. Hooda accused the BJP of failing to achieve anything substantial in the past decade, claiming they only boast about past governments’ achievements.

Hooda highlighted that in 2014, Haryana was leading in per capita income, law and order, and job creation, but now it tops in unemployment. He stated that the law and order situation has deteriorated, with crime rates rising significantly. Hooda urged voters to oust the current government, recalling how the Congress government in 2005 tackled crime effectively.

He criticized the BJP’s Kaushal Rozgar Nigam scheme, calling it a betrayal to Dalits and backward classes, as it lacks merit and reservation. Hooda emphasized Congress’s commitment to merit-based jobs and criticized the return of contract-based employment under BJP.

Hooda expressed confidence in a strong wave of support for Congress, predicting a majority win. He accused the BJP of disrespecting all societal sections and highlighted police violence against Dalits. Hooda also mentioned Congress’s efforts to support farmers and develop educational institutions during their tenure.

Haryana will vote on October 5 to elect its 90-member state legislative assembly, with results announced on October 8. In the 2019 elections, BJP won 40 seats, while Congress secured 30.
