KC Venugopal Criticizes BJP for Firing 4,200 Workers at Vizag Steel Plant

In New Delhi, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has spoken out against the BJP-led government’s decision to dismiss 4,200 contract workers from the Vizag Steel Plant. Venugopal accused the government of having an anti-labor stance and suggested that the dismissals are a step towards privatizing the plant for the benefit of certain corporate allies. The affected workers protested at the plant’s Executive Director’s office in Visakhapatnam.

Venugopal demanded the immediate reinstatement of the workers and urged both the Central and State governments to take corrective action. He emphasized the Congress party’s support for the workers and its commitment to reversing the decision. Additionally, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President YS Sharmila announced an indefinite hunger strike if the workers are not reinstated within 48 hours.

Venugopal reiterated the Congress’s dedication to protecting the Vizag Steel Plant from being sold to private entities, highlighting the party’s resolve to safeguard the future of this important industrial unit.
