BRS Leader K. Kavitha Hospitalized for Medical Tests in Hyderabad
Senior BRS leader and Member of Legislative Council (MLC) K. Kavitha has been admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad for medical tests. She was admitted recently, and the tests are expected to be completed today.
According to her Public Relations Officer (PRO), Kavitha experienced several health issues, including gynecological problems and high fever, during her time in Tihar jail related to the Delhi Excise Policy case. She had previously undergone medical examinations at AIIMS in Delhi for these concerns.
Kavitha was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 15, 2024, and by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on April 11, 2024. The CBI inquiry was recommended based on findings of the Delhi Chief Secretary’s report, which showed prima facie violations of various acts and rules.
Recently, the ED filed a supplementary chargesheet in the Excise Policy money laundering case in Rouse Avenue Court against Kavitha and other accused individuals. The ED and CBI alleged irregularities in modifying the excise policy, extending undue favors to license holders, and waiving or reducing license fees without proper approval.
The Supreme Court noted that Kavitha has been behind bars for five months and that the trial will take a long time to complete due to the large number of witnesses and documents. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court granted her bail in connection with the excise policy case.
