Congress MP Kumari Shelja campaigned in Ambala, Haryana, for party candidate Parminder Pari. She stated that the decision regarding the Chief Ministerial candidate would be made by the party’s high command after the elections. Shelja emphasized the overwhelming public support for Congress and announced that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi would visit Ambala on Monday.

Speaking to the press, Shelja said, “We are receiving massive support from the people, and we are hopeful that they will vote for the party, enabling us to form the government. Ambala is my old constituency, which is why I have come here. Tomorrow, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will visit this area. Our manifestos are always truthful, and we never make false promises.”

Earlier, Shelja campaigned for the party’s candidate from the Kalka assembly seat, Pradeep Chaudhary, expressing confidence in his victory despite numerous challenges. “Congress candidate from Kalka, Pradeep Chaudhary, has faced many challenges. He has always stood by the public. The BJP has consistently conspired against Congress leaders. I am confident that people will vote for the Congress candidate in large numbers,” Shelja told reporters.

Pradeep Chaudhary has been fielded by Congress from the Kalka seat again. He previously won the constituency in the 2019 assembly polls, defeating BJP candidate Latika Sharma with a vote margin of 4.7 percent.

On Saturday, the Congress Party released its manifesto for the Haryana assembly elections, making significant promises, including free electricity, free medical treatment, financial assistance to women, an MSP guarantee for farmers, and the conduct of a caste census in the state. Among the key highlights, the Congress has promised 300 units of free electricity and free medical treatment of up to Rs 25 lakhs for every family in Haryana. The party has also pledged to provide Rs 2000 per month to women aged 18-60 and a subsidy of Rs 500 for gas cylinders.

Haryana will go to the polls on October 5 to elect a 90-member state legislative assembly, with the counting of votes scheduled for October 8. In 2019, the BJP emerged as the single largest party, winning 40 seats, while Congress secured 30.
