Donny Michael Promoted to Coast Guard Commander of Eastern Seaboard
New Delhi [India], September 29: The Centre has approved the promotion of Inspector General Donny Michael to Additional Director General, effective from Saturday, September 29. He will now serve as the Coast Guard Commander of the Eastern Seaboard at Visakhapatnam.
IG Donny Michael has been with the Indian Coast Guard since July 1990 and took command of the ICG Region East in November 2023. Over his career spanning more than three decades, he has commanded various classes of Coast Guard ships, including Inshore Patrol Vessels, Fast Patrol Vessels, Offshore Patrol Vessels, Pollution Control Vessels, and Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessels.
He has served in various capacities both ashore and afloat, with an impeccable track record in operations, administration, and human resources. A specialist in navigation and direction, he is an alumnus of WMU, Sweden, and holds a law degree from CLC, Delhi University. He has received the Director General Indian Coast Guard Commendation and the Commander Coast Guard Region & Nicobar Commendation.
