Congress MP Kumari Selja Supports Pradeep Chaudhary for Kalka Assembly Seat

Congress MP Kumari Selja campaigned on Sunday for Pradeep Chaudhary, the party’s candidate for the Kalka assembly seat. She expressed confidence that he will win the upcoming assembly elections despite facing many challenges.

Selja said, “Congress candidate from Kalka, Pradeep Chaudhary has faced a lot of challenges…He always stood with the public…BJP has always conspired against Congress leaders…I am confident that people will vote for the Congress candidate in large numbers.”

Pradeep Chaudhary has been given the ticket again by the Congress party. He won the Kalka assembly seat in the 2019 Assembly polls by defeating BJP candidate Latika Sharma with a vote margin of 4.7 per cent.

Meanwhile, state Congress Chief Udai Bhan has called for stern action against nine party rebels who are contesting against the party’s official nominees or supporting candidates of other parties. In a letter to Manoj Chauhan, AICC secretary and co-incharge of Haryana, Udai Bhan said the party rebels have indulged in “anti-party activities.” The letter recommended the expulsion of Sharda Rathore, Rohita Revri, Satbir Bhana, Rajkumar Valmiki, Kapoor Narwal, Virender Gogdia, Harsh Kumar, Lalit Nagar and Satbir Ratera.

The Congress Party released its manifesto ahead of the Haryana assembly elections, with major promises including free electricity, free medical treatment, financial assistance to women, MSP guarantee to farmers, and conducting a caste census in the state. The manifesto promises 300 units of free electricity and free medical treatment up to Rs 25 lakhs to every family in Haryana. It also promises Rs 2000 per month to women aged 18-60 and Rs 500 for gas cylinders.

Haryana goes to the polls on October 5 to elect a 90-member state legislative assembly, with the counting set to take place on October 8. In 2019, the BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 40 seats, while Congress won 30 seats.
