BJP Criticizes Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Promotion as Tamil Nadu Deputy CM
New Delhi, India – On Sunday, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the INDIA bloc, claiming that the parties follow a “son rise model” by promoting their own family members to positions of power. This criticism came after Udhayanidhi Stalin was elevated to the position of Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Shehzad Poonawalla stated, “It has been proven that DMK and INDI alliance parties are not political parties but private limited family-run companies. That is why first grandfather, then father, then grandson are given power. This is the ‘son rise’ model.” He further added that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi puts the nation first, while the INDIA alliance parties prioritize their families.
Another BJP spokesperson, Pradeep Bhandari, echoed these sentiments, saying, “Within the DMK, there is no merit except being the Chief Minister’s son. This is the Parivarvad which PM Modi speaks about.” He claimed that the INDI alliance focuses on family interests rather than the country’s welfare.
BJP leader N Ramchander Rao also commented on the situation, calling Udhayanidhi Stalin “Stalin’s legal heir in the politics of Tamil Nadu” and stating that the party prioritizes family interests over national interests.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, who was previously the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, was elevated to the position of Deputy Chief Minister on Saturday. He will also take on the portfolio of Planning and Development in addition to his existing responsibilities.
