Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Meets Uzbekistan’s Defence Minister in Dubai
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, met with Lieutenant General Kurbanov Bakhodir Nizomovich, Minister of Defence of Uzbekistan. The meeting aimed to explore new ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between the UAE and Uzbekistan, which has already seen significant results across 41 sectors.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the UAE’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Uzbekistan, particularly in defence. The meeting also reviewed potential joint initiatives and the exchange of expertise, and discussed regional and global issues, stressing the need for effective solutions to global challenges and the importance of international security and peace in sustainable development.
During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan and the Uzbek Minister of Defence witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on military cooperation. The MoU was signed by Mattar Salem Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence, on behalf of the UAE, and Norboev Alisher Tokhtaevich, Deputy Minister of Defence for Armament and Equipment, on behalf of Uzbekistan. The agreement focuses on collaboration in training and education, and the exchange of defence industry expertise.
The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Mattar Salem Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence; Major General Mubarak Saeed Ghafan Al Jabri, Assistant Undersecretary for Support and Defence Industries within the Ministry of Defence; and Saeed Matar Al Qemzi, the UAE Ambassador to Uzbekistan.
