Monkeypox Cases Detected in Karachi: Passengers from Saudi Arabia Show Symptoms

Three passengers who arrived from Saudi Arabia to Karachi’s airport showed symptoms of monkeypox during medical screening. They were taken to Sindh Government Hospital for further evaluation. The airport was disinfected as a precaution.

Earlier, on September 20, a 26-year-old man from Abbottabad arriving from Jeddah was flagged for suspected monkeypox at Jinnah International Airport. He had rashes and lesions and is currently stable under medical supervision.

On September 15, another suspected case was reported at Jinnah International Airport. A traveler from Jeddah was taken to an isolation ward for assessment and treatment.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a 33-year-old resident of Peshawar was diagnosed with monkeypox after returning from Saudi Arabia on September 7. He is isolated at home and monitored by health officials.

The National Institutes of Health has issued an alert due to the rising number of monkeypox cases in Pakistan, with at least nine confirmed cases reported.
