On Saturday, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized the crucial role of women’s education in achieving a developed India, or ‘Viksit Bharat’. Speaking at the India International School in Jaipur, he stated, “Women and education are the two wheels of the chariot that will drive the nation.”

Education as a Societal Leveller

Dhankhar highlighted that education is essential for equality and democracy. He said, “Education is the biggest leveller in society, it brings equality and it is a necessity for democracy to flourish in any society.”

Historical Context

He also mentioned the importance of education and women’s participation in ancient Vedic times, noting that women were once policymakers and decision-makers.

Women Reservation Bill

The Vice President praised the recently enacted Women Reservation Bill, which mandates one-third reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislatures. He called it a historic development that will make women a driving force in policy-making and legislation.

National Education Policy (NEP)

Dhankhar lauded the National Education Policy for its focus on quality and skill-based education. He stressed that education should go beyond just obtaining degrees and should help students fully exploit their talents.

Role of Youth

He encouraged the youth to contribute to achieving a developed nation status by 2047, stating that the country has mechanisms in place to help individuals realize their potential.

Combating Corruption

Dhankhar also highlighted efforts to eliminate corruption from power corridors, noting that transparent and accountable governance has been established through technological advancements.
