Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Defends Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah in MUDA Land Allotment Case

Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge has responded to the FIR filed by Lokayukta Police against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment scam. Kharge stated that the ‘law will take its own course’ and criticized the BJP-led Centre for targeting Siddaramaiah to defame the Congress party.

Kharge emphasized that there is no need for Siddaramaiah to resign from his position, asserting that the BJP’s main aim is to tarnish the Congress party’s reputation. He mentioned that if Siddaramaiah had committed a crime, he would be responsible, but he believes Siddaramaiah has done nothing wrong.

The FIR, filed by the Mysuru Lokayukta, includes various sections of the Indian Penal Code and names Siddaramaiah, his wife, brother-in-law, and others as accused. One of the complainants, Snehamayi Krishna, has filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), with a hearing expected on September 30.

The Special Court in Bengaluru has ordered the Karnataka Lokayukta to investigate the allegations of illegal land allotment by MUDA to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, and submit a report within three months. Siddaramaiah has reiterated that he will not resign, accusing the opposition of trying to destabilize his government.
