Amit Shah Criticizes Rahul Gandhi Over Jammu and Kashmir Remarks
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a public meeting in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, where he responded to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s comments about outsiders ruling the region. Shah reminded Gandhi that Congress had imposed president’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir the most number of times.
Shah pointed to the recent polling turnout, which he attributed to the end of terrorism in the region. He noted that 55 percent of people voted, a record turnout, and credited Prime Minister Modi’s efforts for strengthening democracy in Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah also mentioned that local governance has improved, with over 40,000 people participating in decision-making processes. He criticized the dynasties of NC, Congress, and PDP for promoting nepotism and emphasized the role of youth in improving the state’s conditions.
Shah warned that if Congress and NC candidates win, celebrations would be held in Pakistan, and vowed to prevent Rahul Gandhi from ending reservations if Congress comes to power.
The second phase of the J-K assembly polls was held on September 25, with the final phase scheduled for October 1 and vote counting on October 8. These elections are the first since the abrogation of Article 370 and are being held after nearly ten years.
