The second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections recorded a voter turnout of 57.03% by 11:45 PM, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). The polling took place across six districts: Budgam, Ganderbal, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, and Srinagar.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Congress chief Tariq Hamid Karra were among the key candidates. The elections were held with 25.78 lakh electors eligible to vote, deciding the fate of 239 candidates.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, supervised the polling process to ensure it was incident-free. Strong security measures and webcasting were in place to create a safe and transparent voting environment.

CEC Rajiv Kumar described the elections as ‘history in the making,’ noting the high voter turnout as a testament to the people’s belief in democracy. The overall voter turnout in these six districts surpassed that of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
