Arif Mehboob Qureshi Dies in Custody; Multiple Assault and Blackmail Cases in Mumbai
A 22-year-old man named Arif Mehboob Qureshi, who was arrested for stalking and assaulting a teenage girl, passed away at JJ Hospital on September 24. He had been admitted after feeling unwell while in Mumbai jail. Qureshi was sent to judicial custody on September 20 for assaulting and stalking a 16-year-old girl. An Accidental Death Report has been registered at NM Joshi Marg Police Station, and the cause of death is still unknown.
In another incident, police registered a case against three individuals accused of raping and blackmailing a 22-year-old woman in Nalasopara, Palghar. The accused, identified as Sanju Srivastava, Naveen Singh, and Hema Singh, allegedly drugged and raped the victim, with Naveen Singh recording the act and blackmailing her. All three suspects are currently absconding.
Additionally, police arrested one person and are searching for another suspect involved in a gang-rape and blackmail case of a 16-year-old girl in Nalasopara, Palghar. The suspects threatened to release a video of the incident if the victim approached the police.
