Bharti Airtel Launches India’s First AI-Powered Spam Detection Solution
New Delhi [India], September 25: Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has introduced a new AI-powered spam detection tool to help its customers avoid spam calls and messages. This tool is designed to alert users in real-time about suspected spam calls and SMSes.
How It Works
The solution, which is free of cost, will be automatically activated for all Airtel customers. There is no need to raise a service request or download an app. The AI-powered tool uses a special algorithm to identify and classify calls and SMSes as ‘Suspected SPAM’.

Gopal Vittal, Managing Director and CEO of Bharti Airtel, stated, ‘Spam has become a menace for customers. We have spent the last twelve months to solve this comprehensively.’ He added that the solution successfully identifies 100 million potential spam calls and 3 million spam SMSes every day.
The tool also scans every SMS in real-time to warn users about suspicious links, using a centralized database of blacklisted URLs.
Regulatory Support
Recently, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) mandated all service providers to stop voice promotional calls from unregistered senders or telemarketers, further supporting efforts to reduce spam.
