New Delhi, India – Congress national spokesperson Shama Mohamed criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies following the Karnataka High Court’s decision against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the MUDA scam.

Shama Mohamed pointed out that many leaders from the JDS and BJP also received land when MUDA distributed it during BJP’s rule in Karnataka. She mentioned that the Karnataka CM would explore other possibilities and that this is not the end of the road. She also criticized the BJP for their past actions, specifically mentioning B. S. Yediyurappa, a former CM convicted of corruption.

BJP’s Response

BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar demanded Siddaramaiah’s resignation, accusing him of continuing the Congress party’s tradition of enriching themselves after coming into power. BJP MP Jagadish Shettar called for an impartial investigation, and Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra also demanded Siddaramaiah’s resignation. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi urged for a CBI inquiry and insisted that Siddaramaiah step down to ensure an impartial investigation.

Siddaramaiah’s Reaction

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that he is not afraid of the BJP and JD(S) conspiracy and will consult legal experts and ministers on how to proceed. He emphasized that he has the support of the people, the high command, and party leaders.

Deputy CM DK Shivakumar’s Support

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar declared that there is no question of resignation and labeled the situation as a political conspiracy by the BJP. He affirmed that Siddaramaiah has not done anything wrong and that the party stands by him.

High Court’s Decision

The Karnataka High Court dismissed Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging the Governor’s approval for an investigation into the alleged illegalities in MUDA allotting sites to his wife.
