Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu Orders Probe into Burning of Sri Ramalayam Chariot

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 24: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has ordered a thorough investigation into the burning of the Sri Ramalayam chariot in Hanakanahal village, Anantapur district. The chariot was set on fire in the early hours of Tuesday by unidentified assailants, resulting in over half of it being destroyed. Local residents noticed the fire and managed to extinguish the flames.

The Chief Minister visited the scene and condemned the incident, requesting timely updates on the investigation. District authorities suspect a conspiracy to hurt Hindu sentiments. Following the orders of Anantapur District SP Jagadeesh, Kalyandurg DSP Ravi Babu, and Rayadurg Circle Inspector Venkata Ramana visited the site to assess the situation. DSP Ravi Babu mentioned that a dog squad and special teams from Anantapur are being deployed to track down the suspects.

This incident comes amid the Tirupati Prasadam controversy, where Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan accused former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of using substandard ingredients, including animal fat, in the preparation of Tirupati laddus during the previous YSRCP government. Kalyan stated, “I am ready to die for Sanatana Dharma, and I will have no restrictions in the country if I must fight for it.” He criticized former chairmen of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Y.V. Subbareddy and Karunakar Reddy, for their role in the issue and addressed actor Prakash Raj’s criticism of his secularism credentials.

Kalyan is currently on an 11-day purification ritual to atone for the alleged use of animal fat in the prasadam.
