Gujarat’s Raghavji Patel Announces Help for Farmers After Heavy Rains
After continuous heavy rainfall in Gujarat caused significant damage to crops, Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel announced that the government will soon provide assistance to farmers. The state is finalizing a survey to assess the damage, and the assistance amount will be paid immediately after the study is completed.
Minister Raghavji Patel also stated, “The Gujarat State Government has decided to increase the electricity supply for farmers from 8 hours to 10 hours. At this time, the peanut crop needs irrigation. The current 8-hour electricity supply has been increased by two hours, making irrigation easier.”
In August, many parts of Gujarat experienced heavy rainfall, leading to widespread flooding. On September 1, Gujarat State Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey said that all districts received extremely heavy rainfall between August 25 and 30, with more than 100% rainfall recorded.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel directed District Collectors to accelerate recovery efforts and expedite the distribution of cash assistance and household aid to affected families. Rs 4 lakh was given to the families of those who died in rain-related incidents. District administrations are processing payments and support through comprehensive surveys of the impacted regions.
