Stone-Pelting Incident on Mahabodhi Express Near Mirzapur Station

The Mahabodhi Express (train number 12397) was targeted in a stone-pelting incident as it approached Mirzapur station on Monday. The incident occurred at approximately 7:21 PM when an unknown individual threw stones from the south side, hitting the guard’s brake.

Maintenance staff member CT Ravikesh Yadav reported the incident, and the guard of the train, Mustaq Ahmed, confirmed that the stone struck the guard brake at kilometer marker 736/3. Fortunately, no injuries were reported to passengers or crew.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar and Head Constable Girdhar Kushwaha conducted a search of the area around the Mirzapur Eastern and Western Goods Yards but found no suspects. ASI Ashok Kumar filed a report under case number 511/24, invoking sections 153 and 147 of the Railway Act against unknown individuals at 9:40 PM.

Shashikant Tripathi, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Central Railway, stated, “When the Mahabodhi Express was nearing Mirzapur, the coach attendant and guard reported to control that a stone had hit the brake van. The control promptly notified the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and addressed the situation. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.”

A case has been registered against unknown miscreants for pelting stones on the guard brake of Mahabodhi Express while it was entering Mirzapur station.
