Dhaka, Bangladesh – Ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja festival, Bangladesh authorities have assured increased security measures amid concerns of violence targeting minority Hindu communities. Durga Puja will be celebrated from October 9 to 13 in 32,666 pavilions across the country.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. The police will exercise utmost vigilance to ensure the safety of the puja mandaps.

Cyber monitoring has been strengthened to prevent the spread of rumors on social media. The IGP requested Hindu leaders to contact the National Emergency Service 999 or the nearest police station in case of emergencies.
