Rajouri Prepares for Second Phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections
Focus on Welfare of Polling Staff and Free Elections
District Election Officer (DEO) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, has highlighted the importance of the welfare of polling staff and conducting free and fair elections as the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls approaches. The elections in Rajouri are scheduled for September 25, with 745 polling stations set up across five assembly constituencies.
Ensuring a Smooth Voting Process
Sharma stated, “Polling is going to be held on September 25 in Rajouri, and we have five assembly constituencies in Rajouri. We have a total of 745 polling stations in all five assembly constituencies. The doubts regarding EVMs have been cleared, and the effort is that the election should be absolutely free and fair as per the guidelines of our Election Commission and our polling parties should return to their reception centres after conducting proper and perfect elections.”
He also mentioned that PWD voters can vote from their homes, with a 96% participation rate, and encouraged all voters to celebrate the festival of democracy on September 25.
Electoral Awareness and Participation
Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir, PK Pole, participated in an electoral awareness program under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP). He expressed hope for high voter turnout in the state Assembly elections, which will also be held in Srinagar, Budgam, and Ganderbal on September 25.
Pole said, “For a better polling experience, all kinds of basic facilities have been provided at polling stations. The Election Commission of India has always tried to make the polls inclusive, and so we conduct awareness programs.”
Election Phases and Voter Turnout
The elections for the 90 assembly seats of Jammu and Kashmir are being held in three phases. The first phase, completed on September 18, saw a voter turnout of 61.13% across 24 constituencies in seven districts. The second and third phases will be held on September 25 and October 5, respectively, with vote counting on October 8 along with Haryana.
