Historian Rizwan Kadri Requests Sonia Gandhi to Return Nehru’s Personal Papers

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], September 23: Historian and author Rizwan Kadri, a member of the Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library (PMML) Society, has written to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. He has asked her to return or provide access to personal papers related to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Kadri stated that ’51 boxes’ of records related to Nehru were taken by Sonia Gandhi’s office from PMML, formerly known as Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML). He questioned the motive behind withdrawing these documents, which include collections related to Jayaprakash Narayan, Babu Jagjivan Ram, and Edwina Mountbatten.

Kadri emphasized the importance of these documents for a comprehensive understanding of India’s history. He suggested that either a scanned copy should be made available or a place be provided for research. Additionally, he called for a forensic audit to ensure no important papers are missing.
