PK Pole and Omar Abdullah Encourage Voting in Jammu and Kashmir Elections
Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir, PK Pole, took part in an electoral awareness program in Srinagar. The event, organized under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative, aimed to encourage voter turnout for the upcoming Assembly elections on September 25.
PK Pole highlighted the historical significance of Lal Chowk and expressed hope for a large voter turnout, similar to the Lok Sabha polls. He assured that all basic facilities would be provided at polling stations to ensure a smooth voting experience.
Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah, the vice president of the National Conference and former Chief Minister, led a Shikara rally on Dal Lake to support the party’s candidate for the Zadibal Assembly Constituency, Tanvir Sadiq. The rally, which started from Nehru Park Ghat No. 7, saw Omar Abdullah posing with the party’s flag and riding a Jet Ski.
Omar Abdullah emphasized the beauty of the region and the issues faced by its people, hoping that their votes would reflect their sentiments. The first phase of voting, held on September 18, saw a 61.13% turnout across 24 constituencies in seven districts. The second and third phases are scheduled for September 25 and October 5, with vote counting on October 8.
