Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya Visits Dhubri Border Outpost
On Sunday, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited the Ram Rai Kuti Border Outpost in Dhubri district. He interacted with BSF Jawans during a Sainik Sammelan at the BOP centre. The Governor was welcomed by Makrand Deuoskar, Inspector General of BSF Guwahati Frontier, and they discussed the operational preparedness and functioning of the BSF along the International Border.
The Governor was honored with a Guard of Honor and interacted with field commanders, Seema Praharis, and local border population representatives. He planted a sapling to promote environmental protection and greenery in the region. A courtesy meeting was held with the staff officer of the 22 Bn Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), where bouquets were exchanged.
Governor Acharya praised the BSF personnel for their dedication and commitment, assuring them of the state government’s support in preventing border crimes and facilitating cooperation with local police. He also visited the border fencing, border pillars, and the old Mahamaya Mandir at the Indo-Bangla border. The Governor participated in a plantation program and interacted with villagers in Ram Rai Kuti village.
In his speech, he expressed his vision for Ram Rai Kuti village to be recognized as the first village of the state, promising to provide basic facilities like education and electricity. He was honored with Phulam Gamocha, Seleng Sadar, and Japi, and interacted with representatives of various SHG groups, offering them gifts.
