Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden met in Wilmington, Delaware, to discuss new areas of cooperation. The meeting took place at Biden’s residence and included key officials from both countries.

Biden emphasized the strong and dynamic partnership between the US and India. He said, “Prime Minister Modi, each time we sit down, I’m struck by our ability to find new areas of cooperation. Today was no different.”

The US delegation included Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti. The Indian delegation included External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

This could be the last bilateral meeting between the two leaders, as Biden’s presidency is ending soon. The 2024 US Presidential Election is scheduled for November 5, 2024, with Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee and former President Donald Trump as the Republican candidate.

Both leaders will also attend the upcoming Quad Summit with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The summit will review the progress of the Quad and set the agenda for the coming year to help the Indo-Pacific region meet its development goals.
