Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill Shine in Chennai Test Against Bangladesh

In an exciting cricket match in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar praised wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for his century. Manjrekar compared Pant’s defensive technique to that of legendary former captain MS Dhoni.

Centuries from Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant helped India set a massive 515-run target in the first Test against Bangladesh. The two young stars showcased their batting prowess, dismantling the Bangladeshi bowling attack with powerful hitting.

Manjrekar’s Praise for Pant

Speaking on ESPNCricinfo, Manjrekar said, “It is a misleading package we see with Rishabh Pant. Underneath that, you will see as many dot balls in his innings as Shubman Gill’s, so he is willing to also play the defensive game that we have seen many times in the past. He has got a pretty good defensive technique, a bit like Dhoni, whose defensive technique was quite good.”

Manjrekar also noted that Pant was careful against off-spinners and has his own unique way of scoring runs, similar to legendary opener Virender Sehwag.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field first. India struggled initially, with the top-order collapsing to 34/3.
