Heavy Rainfall Alert for Kerala, Mahe, and Other Regions This Weekend
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Kerala and Mahe, predicting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the weekend. The IMD stated, “Kerala and Mahe are very likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall to extremely heavy falls (>204.4 mm) on 22nd & 23rd June and likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) during 24th-26th June, 2024.”
Similar red alerts have been issued for South Interior Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, and coastal Karnataka. An orange alert has been issued for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Madhya Maharashtra, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim.
South Interior Karnataka is expected to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall to extremely heavy falls this weekend and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall from Monday to Wednesday. Konkan and Goa may also experience similar weather conditions.
Coastal Karnataka is likely to get isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall to extremely heavy falls on Saturday and Sunday, with continued heavy rainfall expected from Monday to Wednesday.
