Tejashwi Yadav Criticizes Jitan Ram Manjhi Over Nawada Arson Incident
New Delhi, India – On September 19, Bihar’s Leader of Opposition and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav criticized Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s remarks regarding an arson incident in Nawada district. Yadav accused Manjhi and his son of following the “RSS school” of thought.
Tejashwi Yadav also criticized the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government and the BJP, which is in power both at the Centre and in the State, urging them to take action against the culprits. Responding to Manjhi’s claim that 90% of those involved were RJD supporters from a particular caste, Yadav said, “He (Jitan Ram Manjhi) and his son have studied in RSS’s school. Whatever the BJP and RSS tell him, he gives a statement based on that. Who is in power right now? They are in the government both at the Centre and in the state. They should take action against the culprits, who is stopping them?”
Union Minister Manjhi, in a post on social media platform X, said, “There is a strange drama of the opposition in our country. The opposition people first get the Dalits tortured and then turn the incident into an issue and raise questions on the working style of the government. 90% of the people arrested in the Nawada incident belong to a particular caste and are RJD supporters. Will Rahul Gandhi now say something on this or will he remain silent?”
On the night of September 18, about 20-25 houses were set on fire by unidentified miscreants in the Mufassil Police Station area in Krishnanagar, Nawada district. Nawada Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDO) Akhilesh Kumar confirmed that at least 15 people have been arrested in the case. Initial investigations suggest that a land dispute may be the primary cause behind the arson incident, according to Sunil Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sadar Nawada.
Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi called for immediate action against the culprits, emphasizing that the State police must swiftly take measures to rehabilitate the victims. He accused the NDA government of sheltering anarchists who intimidate the Bahujans and criticized the Prime Minister’s silence on the incident as a “seal of approving” this big conspiracy.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan also condemned the incident, describing it as “extremely shameful and reprehensible.” As a major ally of the NDA government, Paswan called on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take decisive action. “I demand that such culprits be arrested as soon as possible and given the harshest punishment,” he stated, emphasizing the need for financial assistance for the victims.
