SFI and AISA Announce Candidates for Delhi University Student Elections

The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students’ Association (AISA) have announced their candidates for the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections. This is the first time these two groups are contesting together.

Meet the Candidates

Saavy Gupta: A third-year student of Law Centre-2, running for the post of president.

Ayush Mondal: A first-year student from LC-2, running for the post of vice-president. Ayush is from Bakura, West Bengal.

Sneha Agarwal: A first-year Law student at LC-2, running for the post of secretary. Sneha is also a state committee member of SFI.

Anamika K: A first-year student of MA Political Science, running for the post of joint secretary.

Election Date

The DUSU elections are scheduled for September 27.

High Court Directive

On September 11, the Delhi High Court directed the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University to address the representation seeking the implementation of 50% women’s reservation in the DUSU elections. The plea emphasized the need for gender equality in student governance.

ABVP’s Election Committee

Earlier this month, the RSS-affiliated student wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), announced its election committee for the upcoming DUSU elections. Tapan Bihari, the Delhi State President of ABVP, has been appointed as the Chairman of the DUSU election committee.

Doubts Revealed


SFI -: SFI stands for Students’ Federation of India. It is a student organization that works for the rights and welfare of students in India.

AISA -: AISA stands for All India Students’ Association. It is another student organization that focuses on student issues and rights across India.

Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) -: DUSU is a group of students elected to represent all the students of Delhi University. They work to solve problems and improve student life at the university.

50% women’s reservation -: This means that half of the positions in the elections must be given to women. It helps make sure that women have equal chances to be leaders.
